Muzik-Patnaz Promoting Record & CD Pool Germany presents… Exclusive interview with the old skool Sample Imagelegend MC Shy D!

M-P: Wut up Mc Shy D, thanks for having the time to do the interview. Let’s start to talk a little bit about you. Could you please introduce yourself to your our listeners.

Mc Shy D: Yes I’m peter Jones Aka; mc. Shy-d formerly of luke records in Miami florida.

M-P: Where are you from and when have you decided to take the music business serious?

Mc Shy D: I’m from new York City. I decided to take the game serious in 1984 right after graduating from high school.

M-P: So far as I know your first record deal was in 1987 on Luther Campbell's record label Luke Skyywalker. How and where did you met up with Luke and how was it to work with him?

Mc Shy D: I met fresh kid ice in a club in florida and he told me that I should come join the lable which was lukes lable. So basicly I met luke in 1986 also he was cool to work with.

M-P: I heard about your trouble in 1990 with Luke about your record sales. Have this occurrence changed your attitude towards the music industry?

Mc Shy D: no not really. I heard that the music business was shady, so basicly I had to learn it the hard way.

M-P: Your first album was with “Got to Be Tough” 1987 Did the album sold in New York as good as in Miami and Atlanta? What gave you the inspiration for this album? Did you had any underground releases before that album?

Mc Shy D: No. new york at that time did not like down south music.i just had a lot of ideas that I wanted to lay down back then.i had two other 12 inches that I released on a lable called 4 sight records which we entitled “rapp will never die” & shy-d is back.

M-P: You moved from New York to Atlanta. Did you moved their because of the music or what was the reason for it? Mc

Mc Shy D: My mom and dad just wanted to get us out of the city because crime was getting very bad at that time.

M-P: Whats your favourite spot and club in Atlanta ?

Mc Shy D: This Mexican restaurant is my favourite spot and this club where I dj at called bigelows is my favourite club.

M-P: Let the people know how you worked on the tracks and what equipment you used in the 80’s.

Mc Shy D: I used the sp 1200 to make up all my beats back then. I still use it now when I do beats.

M-P: You also worked with DJ Smurf and released the album “Recordnize” in 1996 with him. How you met each other and are you still down with him?

Mc Shy D: The lady dj from the jay team introduced me to smurf back in 1990.we are like brother in laws because me and his sister have been together for 8 years now.

M-P: Let the people know with what other artists you worked and you would love to work with.

Mc Shy D: Jam pony express out of Miami danny dee ,raheem the dream,I like all rap artist now that I’ve gotten older.

M-P: So now 9 years have past since your last release. What have you doing during this time? And what are you doing now?

Mc Shy D: I had a sports bar that I use to own, also I had a couple of tour buses.now I am a dj at the club called bigelows that I’ve spoken about earlier. Lets talk a bit about Bass music

M-P: What about Bass music? Is it still alive, or is crunk music the result of it?

Mc Shy D: Bass is almost out the door, but loose control by missy is saving it right now.crunk music is a whole other style of music, its not like bass to me.

M-P: Is a comeback of Bass music possible?

Mc Shy D: I do not see it.

M-P: Will there be any new “Bass projects” from you as producer or MC?

Mc Shy D: Yeah, me & freak nasty who made da dip are going to record some bass songs together. .

M-P: We all know that Afrika Bambaataa is your cousin, did you ever recorded a song with him?

Mc Shy D: No.

M-P: What are your plans for the future? Are there any upcoming projects you working on ?

Mc Shy D: Yes im working on a new shy-d single now.

M-P: I heard you manage some hot artists out of Atlanta. Can you name some of them please.

Mc Shy D: freak nasty who made “da dip” and im trying to manage a group called 334 mobb who just signed to def jam.

M-P: Who were your idols when you started music?

Mc Shy D: The furious 5 and run dmc.

M-P: So let’s go on and change the topic and talk about the music industry. The Internet has changed the way we listen to music completely. What do you think about downloading music etc. Will this damage the CD sells from artists? Do you think fans will still buy their album legally?

Mc Shy D: the internet gets your music across the world quicker now. People will still buy music cds out of the stores also.

M-P: Do you thing the internet is good for the underground rap artists?

Mc Shy D: Yes. I helps to get people across the world to know who they are now.

M-P: What is your point of view on the current state of the US rapscene?

Mc Shy D: Artist need to make full albums instead of 2 or 3 good songs on a 18 dis cd.

M-P: Would do you think how important are Dj’s and their Mixtapes for the music industry?

Mc Shy D: I love mix tapes because, you get all the hot songs on 1 cd. Djs always been major in the game.

M-P: Everybody is talking about Atlanta as the mecca of the music industry. What makes this city so special with all that artist like outkast , ludacris, oomp camp, lil jon, ying yang twins, dj smurf etc.?

Mc Shy D: Every body is coming with different styles, that’s what makes a-t-l music so dope.

M-P: Last but not least please complete this sentence.

M-P: Is there anything you would like to say to the people here in Germany and Europe?
