Muzik-Patnaz has another artist from ATL, the newcomer Lil Weavah.
First of all thanks for having the time to do the interview let?s get started.
M-P: Your album Home Team is number one underground selling cd in Georgia, where did you take the inspiration to produce those unbelievable hits and who helped you?
Lil Weavah: The first track for Home Team was recorded January 30, 2004. That song was They Scared with Bola from Xtaci. We recorded that at T.I.?s studio at Grand Hustle. The last song I recorded was Green 4 da low with BoHagon from BME. I think we recorded that like early August. The album dropped September 7th. I recorded about 55 songs but most of the ones I didn?t use didn?t have the quality beats I felt I needed. The people inspired me. Everybody. Doing the album, Sedrick Strozier from A-Town Records helped, so did Devin Johnson the mixing engineer for the Ying Yang Twins, David Banner, and Bone Crusher. DJ Burn One, Bryson Ray from Florida, and The P.$.C.
M-P: You are out of Atlanta as we all now this city has brought out a lot of top acts, do you hang around with any and what do they say about your music?
Lil Weavah: Well many of the established artist or producers from Atlanta or those who work in Atlanta have said that they are feeling my music and they have inspired me to keep grinding hard such as: Sammy Sam, BoHagon, T.I., David Banner, and Ludacris.
M-P: What is your favourite spot and club in Atlanta?
Lil Weavah: My favourite Club was The Bounce on Bankhead but that closed down, so now it?s the Poole Palace on Bankhead. My favourite spot is Greenbriar Mall in Southwest Atlanta. I be there every weekend chillen with my folks. Most people call it too ?ghetto?, but that?s home to me.
M-P: When did you have the idea to make music, and what were your motivations?
Lil Weavah: I started rapping at 6. People think Home Team is my first album but its really like my 10th. Home Team is just my first commercial release. Everytime I do interviews down here people go crazy when I let them hear my music from when I was six through 10. My moms bought a record player for me when I was four and the only records I had was Run D MC and Gladys Knight. So I guess you can say they were my motivation.
M-P: Who where/are your idols?
Lil Weavah: Malcom, MLK, 2Pac
M-P: Have you worked with major artists/producers, how was it?
Lil Weavah: Yea, a few. It?s cool. Im so business oriented that I might not think about it till a week or so after it happen. I be like?dang, I was just with Jazze Pha and Young Jeezy.
M-P: What projects are you working on? Lil Weavah: I been working on a major album release, a final underground release, a freestyle mix tape and I?ll probably be in a few movies. M-P: On which major events have you played?
Lil Weavah: Birthday Bash (Atlanta, GA)
M-P: Is crunk music the future of rap, or is it just a hype that will come and soon be gone again?
Lil Weavah: I don?t know. Really I?m in the middle. I prefer to rap more laid back and be lyrical but sometimes I?m super crunk. So?Im not sure but it would be interesting.
M-P: What do you think about record-pools?
Lil Weavah: Super!! Fie Promotion
M-P: Where do you stand in the American music industries?
Lil Weavah: Honestly that?s hard to awnser because when you are here and only been here its hard to even vantage an outside view point.
M-P: Does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
Lil Weavah: Yea. Especially for people like me who had to do everything themselves. I aint have the finances that most people in my postion had so I had to go about it using other resourses.
M-P: What do you think about the music industry?
Lil Weavah: Not much. You would be surprised to see how I live my regular life and let the industry play it self out. Most people in the industry live the industry life. Nah?I cant do that. I live my regular hood life that way I don?t get caught up in the successes and down falls.
M-P: Would you like to come and perform in Germany?
Lil Weavah: Oh definitely. I Love all the people in Germany.
M-P: Is there anything you would like to say to the people here in Germany?
Lil Weavah: Thanks for all yall support. The one thing I tell everybody here in the US when they ask ?what has surprised me about my success?? I always say the love people give me in Germany. It?s amazing and I definitely appreciate that.
M-P: Thanks a lot for this nice interview, it was really a pleasure!!!
